VCE Applied Computing (Units 1 & 2)

This site now uses the same top-level structure as the Year 12 Software Development course, with each tab organised by unit and area of study.

Course Scope

Units 1 and 2 cover data analysis, programming, innovative solutions and cyber security through the VCE problem-solving methodology.

Unit 1

Unit 1 introduces Applied Computing through two connected areas of study:

  • AoS1 - Data analysis: use databases, spreadsheets and data visualisations to analyse data and present findings clearly.
  • AoS2 - Programming: interpret requirements, represent solution ideas and develop a working software solution in an object-oriented programming language.

Unit 2

Unit 2 extends the course into innovation and cyber security:

  • AoS1 - Innovative solutions: investigate a problem, need or opportunity and develop an innovative digital solution collaboratively.
  • AoS2 - Cyber security: examine networks, vulnerabilities, threats and strategies for protecting data and information.
